March 27, 2024
March 27, 2024
We continue a long tradition of shared worship with other parishes in Newton during the Paschal Triduum, which includes liturgies for Maundy Thursdsay, Good Friday, and on Saturday the Great Vigil of Easter. This year these three liturgies will take place among three parishes.
Maundy Thursday, March 28, the celebration of the foot washing and last supper of Jesus, will be hosted at Grace Episcopal Church, 76 Eldredge Street in Newton Corner. Liturgy and Holy Eucharist at 7:00pm.
The Good Friday, March 29 liturgy, including the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to John and glorification of the Cross, will be hosted at Saint John's Church, 297 Lowell Avenue in Newtonville. Liturgy and Holy Eucharist from the reserved Sacrament at 7:00pm.
The ancient liturgy of The Great Vigil of Easter, Saturday, March 30, which includes the first lighting of the Paschal candle and, this year, the Baptism of two Trinity parishioners, as well as the first celebration of the Resurrection, will be hosted at Trinity Parish, 11 Homer Street. Liturgy and Holy Eucharist at 7:30pm. Download the Easter Vigil order of service here.
The Sunday of the Resurrection, Easter Day, March 31, follows Trinity's normal Sunday schedule, 10:00am (in person or join via Zoom). There will be no Sunday School on Easter morning, however the traditional Easter egg hunt will follow the liturgy in the Parish House or, weather permitting, outside. Download the Easter morning order of service here.
